IDP: Buhari orders arrests over relief material theft

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Inspector General to arrest and prosecute all the government officials found to be involved in the stealing and diverting of food aids meant for the victims of the Boko Haram in the North East region.

Buhari, in a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Sheu, asked the police chief to ensure that some of the officials are caught and be made a public example to others.

Last April, the social media carried stories and picture of some of the relief items for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) put on sales in shops in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, where over a million of Boko Haram victims are in IDP camps.
