Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state has stated that he consulted several elders and top traditional rulers in the state before declaring his support for the quest of the Ogun West to produce the next governor.
Those consulted, according to Amosun, included paramount rulers in the state, such as the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and other top traditional rulers.
The governor who spoke again on the issue, while receiving members of the Yewa Consultative Forum at the Governor’s Office, Abeokuta, said some of those consulted supported the planned power shift to the Ogun West in 2019, while others, according to him, opposed the decision.
Ogun West senatorial APC chairman, Chief Olagbaji, who led the forum to the meeting with the governor, promised that leaders in Ogun West will produce a credible candidate, while asking Amosun not to change his mind on the decision.
Olagbaji said they are mindful that Amosun is facing serious political pressure, since he announced his decision to back Ogun West in the Ogun state 2019 governorship race.
Governor Amosun, however asked leaders in Ogun West not to take things for granted, but reach out to leaders and paramount rulers in Ogun Central and Ogun East, ahead of the 2019 polls.
