Housewife who stole baby in Osun arrested by Police in Ogun

Police have arrested a 27 year old housewife in Ogun state for allegedly stealing a three week old baby.

The woman, identified as Bunmi Adebayo, allegedly stole the baby boy in Modakeke, near Ile Ife, and brought it to Orile Imo village, near the Sagamu interchange in Ogun state.

Ogun state Police commissioner, Ahmed Ilyasu, parading the suspect at the command headquarters in Abeokuta, says the woman in desperation to have a baby had told her husband that she was pregnant, later, she told the husband she had delivered a baby.

The Police chief explains that husband suspecting a foul play, asked her for the placenta of the baby which she failed to produce, and asked her to breast feed the baby which also she could not.

The woman speaking to newsmen explains that she stole the baby from the daughter of a prospective landlady in Modakeke who wants to secure an apartment for her.

According to her, while the landlady and her daughter were negotiating the rent, she assisted the landlady’s daughter to back the baby, promising to get the money from nearby automated teller machine before she absconded with the baby.

The Police commissioner, Ilyasu Ahmed handed the suspect over to a team of police operatives, led by one Sergeant Kolade Samson, from the Osun state Police command.
