HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TAKES OVER KOGI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

House of Representatives has taken over the functions of the Kogi State House of Assembly, following prolonged leadership crisis in the assembly.

The house, after considering the report of an ad-hoc committee on the crisis at a plenary, asked the inspector general of police, Solomon Arase, to seal up the Kogi State Assembly Complex in Lokoja.

The house said it was empowered by section 11, sub section four of the constitution, to take over the assembly.

The leadership crisis reached a critical stage, after five of the 20 member house of assembly, impeached the speaker, who had the support of 14 other members.

The ad-hoc panel set up by the House of Representatives on the crisis, was boycotted by the five lawmakers
