Hospitals shut in Ogun over death of pregnant women during delivery

Ogun state government has ordered the immediate closure of three hospitals over the death of two pregnant women during the process of delivering babies.

The hospitals are all located in the Ifo Local Government area.

Health Commissioner, Doctor Babatunde Ipaye who ordered the closure, said the pregnant women whose names were withheld, bled to death because they were attended to by quack doctors.

Ipaye represented by the Deputy Director of the Hospital Services, Doctor Solomon Shokunbi, lamented the criminal activities of the quack medical doctors in the state.

Earlier, the state government had shut down about 43 private health facilities for either not having license to operate or failure to renew their licenses.

The commissioner asked the public to report quack doctors in their communities by calling 0705-436-8055.
