Taraba State Police Commissioner, David Akinremi, has been injured in attacks by suspected hoodlums, while intervening in an unrest in Jalingo.
The Commissioner who led senior officers to restore peace at Tudun Wada axis of the city, was hit on his head by stones thrown by the hoodlums.
He was rushed to a hospital where he was treated, and now resting at home.
Spokesman of the state Police Command, David Misal, confirming the incident, said the unrest began on Sunday, when some armed hoodlums began terrorizing people in Tuduwada and Gadu Boboji areas.
Misal explained that police deployed to the areas restored peace, only for the hoodlums to resume attacks on Monday morning, during which the police commissioner led senior officers to the scene, before he was attacked.
Several suspects, according to him, had been arrested in connection with the attack which policemen are still battling to contain its spread.
