Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it is expecting some of its former high profile members to return to fold within the next three weeks.
Chairman of PDP non-elective national convention, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa made this known during an inspection visit to the Eagle Square, Abuja, venue of the proposed convention.
Okowa explained that the former high profile politicians whose identities he did not disclose left PDP for one reason or the other.
The governor said it has now dawned on Nigerians that PDP is the only alternative to bail Nigeria out of its economic mess.
PDP caretaker committee had mandated Okowa committee to woo PDP’s former top leaders, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, House of Reps Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and former and serving governors back to the party.
Okowa said, “We just came to see what is on ground. I believe that our people will be safe because we have everything under control, we are not expecting any hitches at all.
“We are doing very well as a party and as a committee. In this kind of planning, you will have some challenges here and there but there are solutions being proffered for everyone of it and we are confident that we are on the right track and it shall be well on Saturday.
“From the way things are going presently in this country, I believe Nigerians will realise that PDP is the only alternative that can bring Nigeria out of her present economic challenges.”
