Gunmen have abducted a former commissioner for transport in Bayelsa State, Mrs Marie Ebikake.
The former commissioner was abducted in the early hours of Sunday from her residence in Igbogene area of the state.
It was gathered that some days ago hoodlums invaded her residence in Brass, but did not take anything.
The spokesman for the Bayelsa Police Command, AsImin Butswat, confirmed the development.
“She was abducted at her residence by gunmen at about 1 a.m. today. Manhunt has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators,” Butswat said.
Ebikake had resigned as Commissioner for Transport during the campaign for the re-election of Governor Seriake Dickson amidst a political dispute between Dickson and the wife of a former president, Patience Jonathan.
She was reported to have later returned to Dickson’s political camp.
