Four police officers have been killed by suspected armed herdsmen in Benue State.
They were killed while on a patrol at Anyibe in the Logo local government area, which had been under attacks by killer herdsmen since January.
Spokesman of the state police command, Moses Iyamu, said the policemen came under gunfire from the herdsmen on Sunday evening, and early Monday morning.
Additional reinforcement of mobile police officers and aviation unit, according to him, had been deployed on the order of the inspector general of police to the area.
Also, gunmen have abducted a German consctruction engineer and killed a police officer in Kano metropolis.
The attack took place around Madobi underpass, when the German who work with Dantata and Sawoe, accompanied by the police officer, were heading towards a construction site in the city.
Spokesman of the state police command, Magaji Majia, explained that the gunmen, who were on motorcycles, ambushed a vehicle conveying the engineer, and opened gunfire on it.
Majia said the police sergeant who was attached to the police special protection unit, died in the gunfire, while the German was abducted.
Meanwhile, the state police commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, has ordered detectives to launch a manhunt for the gunmen and their victim.
