Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has expressed shock at comments by Governor Simon Lalong on the Benue state contentious anti-open grazing law.
Governor Lalong after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, says he warned Ortom against going ahead with the implementation of the law.
Lalong also said it was wrong for Benue to enforce the law without providing an alternative to the herders in the state.
But Ortom responding while receiving leaders of a Benue socio cultural group at the Government House, Makurdi, denies ever being told so by the plateau state governor.
Instead, Governor Ortom says that Lalong told him during their last meeting in Jos that he was under pressure to join Benue state in introducing a law to ban open grazing of cattle in Plateau State.
