Pan Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, has asked the Presidency to make public the names of 11 civil servants implicated in the 50,000 ghosts recently did covered on the payroll of the Federal Government.
The Presidency had stated that the implicated civil servants have been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for prosecution.
The organization in a statement by its spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, said the naming and shaming of the 11 civil servants will allay the fears of Nigerians that there is a grand conspiracy to cover up the crime.
Odumakin who recalled that the immediate Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, four years ago also claimed to have uncovered 40,000 ghosts on the federal government’s payroll, without anyone being prosecuted.
Afenifere also worried over the deployment of civil servants implicated in the padding of the 2016 budget to the cash office of the Finance Ministry.
