Germany considers deporting 12,000 Nigerians

Germany may deport 12,000 Nigerians next year

Germany is considering deporting more than 12,000 Nigerians seeking asylum in the year 2018.

Global head of programme, migration and development, Dr. Ralf Stanftenberg, made this known during a visit to the Special Adviser to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs Abike Dabiri Erewa, in her office in Abuja.

At the moment, the German official said there are over 37,000 Nigerians living in Germany, out of which over 12,000 are seeking asylum.

He, however, explained that 99 per cent of the 12,000 asylum seeking Nigerians will be deported because Nigeria is not regarded as a war-torn nation.
