Gas Shortage: Nigeria’s Power Supply Dropped

Nigeria’s electricity generation on Sunday, dropped to 3,172.20 megawatts, according to data released by the electricity system operator

The power supply dropped to this level at about 5 pm on Sunday

The development is blamed on the shortage of gas supply

According to the data, some of the nation’s power plants generated below their installed capacity, due to the gas shortage

For instance, the Olorunsogo plant generated only 335 megawatts, and Sapele plant (450 megawatts) Others, such as Nigeria’s biggest power plant at Egbin, near Epe, generated only 746 megawatts, Omoku plant (37.20 megawatts), Omotosho (105 megawatts), while Afam plant produced only 80 megawatts of electricity
