Tensions have gripped Ekiti State over the relocation of the National Secretariat of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to the state.
The relocation is to enable the apex students body coordinate a three day protests against the alleged killing of two students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, by the Police, during an attack of the students on the convoy of the wife of the state governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.
During the attack, the state first lady narrowly escaped death, while vehicles in the convoy were damaged by students, who also injured several people, including journalists.
NANS National Secretary, Yusuf Farouk, who confirmed the temporary relocation of their national secretariat, says a massive street protests will hold on Tuesday.
The police say, it has intelligence that former university students will be brought into the state to cause a breach of peace.
It vows to stop any form of illegal procession capable of plunging the state into confusion.
