Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is to reabsorb the 23 staff sacked in the wake of recent crisis in the university.
The University Governing Council at its ninety first meeting held at the National Universities Commission in Abuja, said it took the decision following appeals from within and outside the institution, while affirming that Professor Olusola Oyewole remains the Vice Chancellor.
The governing council, in a communique signed by its secretary, Mr Obafemi Oginni, directed each of the recently sacked staff, to forward a letter of appeal to the Secretary, Council Committee on Investigation of the lingering industrial unrest and tension, the Office of the University’s Acting Registrar, between Friday, December 16 and Monday, December 19.
The council also listed the term of reference of committee on investigation of the lingering industrial unrest and tension, to include receiving appeals from aggrieved staff, investigating and identifying the remote and immediate cause of the unrest and tension, as well as identifying the institutional structural factors responsible for the unrest.
The investigation committee is also empowered to make recommendations on lasting measures and strategies for resolving conflicts in the university.
It also directed other staff on industrial action to resume at their duty post immediately, and all parties to withdraw all civil cases in court to allow the investigation committee to function properly.
