A new vice chancellor has been appointed for the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
He is Professor Felix Salako.
The new vice chancellor is a professor of soil physics in the Department of Soil Sciences and Land Management in the College of Plant Science and Production of FUNAAB.
He was born in 1961 in Lagos and hails from Ibadan, Oyo state.
The university’s pro chancellor, Doctor Aboki Zawha, in a statement, said the appointment was guided by the law establishing the institution.
Zawha said, “We, as a council were guided by provisions of the Act, the rules of the University and Federal Character. We decided to set up a committee that conducted the screening of all applicants and afterwards mandated the technical committee to see whether the applicants complied with advertisement about the position they applied for.
“The Technical Committee came up with good list and presented it to the Selection Board. Recommendations were made to the Council and we approved the list and other recommendations that were submitted.”
Other new appointments in the university announced by the pro chancellor were those of Doctor Hakeem Adekola as the new registrar, and Mr Chukwu Nwike as the new bursar.
