Crisis in the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has worsened, following the recognition of Bayo Dayo faction by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the state’s authentic executive committee.
INEC last week had notified PDP national headquarters that it is recognizing Bayo Dayo faction, ahead of the 2019 polls, in line with courts ruling.
On Saturday, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus asked INEC to retain its recognition of Sikirulai Ogundele as Ogun State PDP authentic, saying the ruling by the Supreme Court has confirmed this.
The position of PDP National Chairman has created confusion, ahead of ruling by an Appeal Court on May 6, on the application filed Ogun State PDP leadership crisis by the PDP National Headquarters.
Reacting to PDP National Headquarters position, the Bayo Dayo faction on Sunday, asked PDP national headquarters to allow INEC as an unbiased umpire to comply with court’s ruling on the leadership crisis.
The faction’s secretary, Semiu Sodipo, speaking to Rockcity FM News said the ruling of a Federal High Court which recognized it as the authentic faction is yet to be vacated by PDP.
He explained that PDP national headquarters in the application before an Appeal Court, is attempting to re-enlisting the appeal it filed against the High Court’s ruling for mention
