Four World Bank officials had drowned at Egbe Dam in Egbe Ekiti, in the Gbonyin Local Government area of Ekiti state,
Their boat capsized on Wednesday night as a team of seven contractors employed by the World Bank was on an assessment mission to the dam on how to reactivate it.
Chairman of the Gboyin Local Government, Mrs Folasade Akinrinmola, told newsmen that the team had commenced work on Tuesday night from a section of the dam and was moving to the other section when the incident happened
She said the bodies of those that had drowned were retrieved by local fishermen, and deposited at the mortuary in Ode-Ekiti.
