FORGERY: FG asks Saraki to leave Senate out of his trial

The Presidency has said the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, are the one facing trial at a Federal High Court for forgery, and not the Senate.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, in a statement, faulted Saraki and Ekweremadu in their separate statement for alleging that their trial was aimed at pocketing the National Assembly by the Presidency.

Lawal likens the trial to that of a Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Salisu Buhari who resigned honorably instead of going to court, after he was accused of forging his academic certificate.

Lawal urged Saraki and his deputy to allow the court process to take its due course, in line with the rule of law and in the spirit of separation of powers.
