The Koton Karfe Custodial Centre in Kogi State has collapsed after massive flooding caused by days of heavy rainfall.
All the 228 inmates in the centre escaped when the centre collapsed early on monday.
The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Jafar Ahmed who rushed to the scene, told newsmen in Koton Karfe that some of the inmates had been re-arrested.
Ahmed explains that flood at about 3 am on monday, collapsed the perimeter fence, paving the way for inmates to escape.
Those re-arrested, according to the Comptroller General, are being posted to other custodial centres in the state, because Koton Karfe Centre is not habitable.
