Five women in police net for hawking currency notes in Ogun

Five women are now in the custody of police in Ogun State for allegedly hawking currency notes in the public.

The suspects were arrested in Ijebu Ode and Abeokuta, the state capital, last Thursday and Friday.

Spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said they were arrested in a sting operation carried out by a joint team of policemen and officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to him, various denominations of naira totalling N1.56 million was recovered from the suspects.

The state police commissioner, Ahmed Ilyasu, according to Oyeyemi, had directed the deputy police commissioner in charge of criminal investigations and intelligence to investigate the suspects
