Five persons have been roasted to death in a petrol tanker explosion on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State.
The accident occurred at 4.46 am on Wednesday at Ogere axis of the road, near Tunji Alogi filling station.
The fatal accident, is a grim follow-up to the last Sunday’s fatal crash in the same axis, in which seven persons were burnt to death.
The state sector commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Ahmed Umar, said the five persons killed in the Wednesday’s crash, were burnt beyond recognition.
The FRSC commander said the accident was caused by the driver of the petrol tanker, who was driving dangerous and wrongful overtaking.
The commander in a statement issued by the state FRSC public education officer, superintendent route commander Florence Okpe, said the tanker’s driver in the process, collided with a moving truck.
The collision caused the tanker to explode, causing a fire outbreak, which also affected five cars.
