First Bank to help 10,000 visually impaired Nigerians

First Bank of Nigeria has unveiled a programme under which it plans to provide 10,000 visually-impaired Nigerians with free vision screening.

Beneficiaries of the programme will also enjoy discounted eyeglasses in the next two years.

The screening and provision of glasses were part of the activities of the bank’s 2018 corporate responsibility and sustainability week.

Other activities that will be carried out by the bank under the programme are donation and visitation to orphanages/IDP camps and counselling of secondary school students on financial literacy/career choices.

Inaugurating the scheme in partnership with vision spring foundation in Abuja, the bank’s Executive Director, public sector, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim, said it will begin the pilot phase of the vision programme with 2, 000 people.

The 2,000 people are to be low income earners and students.

The number of beneficiaries are to be scaled up the number subsequently.
