Golden Eaglets of Nigeria have started their qualification campaign for the forthcoming 2019 FIFA- Under 17 World Cup in Brazil on a bright note after, narrowly, defeating host, Tanzania, 5-4 in the on-going Africa Ca’det Championship.
Olatomi Olaniyan opened scoring for Nigeria in the 21st minute of the competition’s opening match before Tanzania’s Edmund John quickly drew level a minute later.
Eaglets restored their lead through Wisdom Ubani’s goal in the 30th minute before Akinkunmi Amoo increased the tally with the third goal in the 37th minute.
The Tanzanians staged a come-back through Kelvin John in 52nd minute, while Suleiman Shaibu and Edmund John scored from the penalty spot to give Tanzania four/three lead.
Eaglets leveled again through Wisdom Ubani’s free-kick in the 72nd minute before Ibraheem Jabaar’s goal in the 78th minute restored Nigeria’s lead for the second time for the maximum three points in the group a match of the competition.
