World football governing body, FIFA, on Monday slapped the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) with a $31,000 fine over its failure to control Nigerian football fans during the FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Cameroon in September.
Fans encroached the pitch at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium after the Super Eagles thrashed the Indomitable Lions 4-0, an attitude world football governing body seriously frowned at.
The act contravenes Articles 65 and 67 of the FDC FIFA Stadium Safety and Security Regulations which guards against fans going beyond restricted environment in a football arena.
FIFA fined Nigeria $31,000 for poor crowd control.
This will serve as caution for Nigeria as it prepares to host Chipolopolo of Zambia in their last home game of the group.
