The presidency said it has nothing against former President Olusegun Obasanjo, for again declaring support for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2019 polls.
Obasanjo, according to the information and culture minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has every rights enshrined in the 1999 constitution, to support a candidate of his choice in the polls.
The minister, addressing a news conference in Abuja, however, said that the PDP candidate will be soundly defeated in the poll.
Obasanjo, in a statement credited to him on Sunday, had dismissed reports saying he will not support any of the presidential candidates seeking election in 2019.
The former president said he cannot be neutral in the poll that will determine who becomes Nigeria’s next president, due to what he regards as the glaring shortcomings of the Buhari administration.
