The Presidency has spoken out on the re-arrest of convener of ‘revolution now, Omoyele Sowore, saying the department of security service (DSS) does not need its permission to hold him.
Sowore, according to a presidential spokesman, Garba Sheu in a statement, was a presidential candidate, and later a convener of revolution protests against a democratically elected government, is not an ordinary Nigerian expressing his rights.
Sheu adds that Buhari administration could not fold its arms, and allow another violent agitation like Boko Haram and Pro-Biafra struggle to plunge Nigeria further into another crisis.
In the event of such a fresh crisis, the presidency says Sowore who is based in the US, will sneak out of the country, leaving the rest of Nigerians to the consequence of his ‘revolution now’ protests.
Such a person, according to the presidency, due to his action and words will automatically be of interest to DSS.
The presidential spokesman, Garba Sheu, explains that DSS is acting within its powers and does not require the approval of president Buhari to act on security issue.
