The Presidency says that the swearing-in of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, will be a low keyed event.
Most of the events, scheduled for May 29 inauguration ceremony, will instead take place during the observance of Nigeria’s new democracy day on June 12.
Information and Culture Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who made this known to the State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, says the decision was taken at the last May 8 meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
The Minister says that invitations had been sent out to world leaders, for the June 12 National Democracy Day Celebration.
June 12 was declared as the new democracy day by Buhari to replace May 29, to commemorate the annulment of June 12, 1993 Presidential Poll won by late Bashorun MKO Abiola.
