The new comptroller general of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mohammed Babandede, has directed the immediate arrest of former political office holders still holding diplomatic passports by immigration officers.
158 diplomatic passports have so far being retrieved.
Babandede who issued the directive at a meeting with top immigration officers in Abuja, says such former political office holders should be arrested at all entry points into and out of the country, including airports.
He further directed the immigration officers to track former political office holders to their given addresses, adding that charges would also press charges against them
Affected by the directive are former presidents, governors and their deputies, legislators, ministers, special advisers, directors and permanent secretaries.
His immediate predecessors, David Parang and Martins Abechi also issued such a directive in the past one year.
