FEC approves releases N65bn for Social Investment Programme

Federal Executive Council has approved the urgent release of N25 billion for the immediate implementation of the first phase of the social investment programme.

Budget and National Planning Minister of state, Zainab Ahmed who announced this to the state house correspondents after the meeting of the council, said another N40 billion was being processed for immediate release to execute the project.

She said the programme, include the feeding of 3.5 Million Primary one to three primary school pupils in 11 States, who are ready for the take-off of the home grown school feeding scheme

Another of the programme involves the payment of N30,000 monthly salary to 500,000 graduates who will be engaged for two years as teachers, health support staff and agriculture workers.

Also, one million very poor people will get N5,000 monthly stipend for two years, and loans ranging from N10,000 to 100,000 payable within three months, and six months to 1.6 million traders, market women, artisans and youths
