Feb 16 POLLS: INEC Mobilizes Card Reader To Anambra

Independent national electoral commission (INEC) says 4,695 smart card reader machines were destroyed in the Tuesday’s fire outbreak at its office in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Inec national commissioner, Festus Okoye, addressing a news conference, assures that the Saturday polls will still hold in the state despite the loss.

Earlier, the state resident electoral commissioner had doubted the holding of Saturday polls in the state due to the huge loss in the fire outbreak.

Okoye, who is in-charge of Inec’s voter education and publicity,  says Inec has begun mobilizing some smartcard reader machines from its other states offices nationwide, for immediate deployment to Anambra state.
