Mines and Steel Development minister, Doctor Kayode Fayemi has formally declared interest in the Ekiti State July 14 governorship poll.
The minister, however, is silent on when he will resign from the Buhari administration cabinet.
The former governor indicated his interest to rule the state at a news conference held at his country home in Isan Ekiti in the Oye local government area of Ekiti state.
With his declaration, more than 30 aspirants have declared interest in the APC ticket for the poll.
The minister said he is not bothered by the Ekiti State Government White Paper which indicted him of corruption, and bans him from public office for 10 years.
Fayemi said he will submit his letter of intent to contest the poll to the APC State secretariat, as soon as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lifts ban on campaign for the poll on April 15.Please subscribe to our newsletter
