Scores of expectant mothers have staged a protest in Akure, over the reintroduction of fees for delivery in public hospitals in Ondo State.
The women complaining that the services were free under the Mimiko administration’s Abiye programme, disrupted service at a major hospital in the state capital.
The women, numbering more than 100, staged the protests at the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Akure.
They described the newly introduced N25,000 normal delivery fee and N50,000 for cesarean operation as outrageous.
The protesting women also say they are also being forced to pay other various fees ranging from N500 to N4,000 while receiving antenatal services.Please subscribe to our newsletter
