Ex CDS cautions against politicizing Metele attack

Former Chief of Defence Staff, Leuitenant General Martins Luther Agwai, has asked Nigerians not to make issue out of the deadly attack by insurgents on army base at Metele in Borno State.

The killing of troops by insurgents during the attack, according to him, should not be interpreted, as a sign of weakness on the part of the Nigerian army.

Agwai, speaking to newsmen on the side-line of the anniversary of the Nigeria fellowship of evangelical students in Abuja, said troops fighting insurgents in the north east region have been suffering casualties because the war is not conventional.

The former chief of defence staff explains that the war that the troops are fighting in the region is strange to them because they are trained to fight only conventional war.
