Evacuation Of Cargo By Rail Begins From Lagos Ports

The movement of containers from the Apapa Port Complex in Lagos to Northern States has begun, to reduce the traffic gridlock in Apapa axis.

Eighteen new rail wagons are deployed for the haulage which began on Tuesday from the Lagos Ports.

Managing Director of Nigeria Railway Corporation, Engineer Okhira, says the newly acquired wagons are moving 20 foot and 40 foot containers from the Apapa Ports.

The train, according to him, will convey the containers to Ijoko, Abeokuta and Omi Adio in Ibadan depots from where trucks will take the containers to various destinations in the North, mostly the newly opened dry Port in Kaduna.
