Ethiopian Airlines is in a bid to acquire the troubled Arik Air.
The East African airline said its top officials are holding talks to take over the management of Nigeria’s troubled carrier.
The Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) took over Arik Air early this year after it declared heavy losses amidst heavy indebtedness.
Ethiopian Airlines’ head for international services, Esayas Woldemariam, told the Associated Press news agency that the negotiations follow a request by the aviation ministry.
Ethiopian Airline, according to him are willing and able to take over the management of Arik Air.
“We have outlined our terms and conditions to the Nigerian government and we are waiting to see if they agree,” he said.
