Emir of Kano, Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi Lamido has asked northern leaders to address the problems of ignorance and poverty, if they want the region to move forward.
Until that is done, the traditional ruler said the region will continue to have the country’s highest negative indices, and far behind the rest of the world.
Emir Lamido who spoke on the issue at the convocation ceremony of the Gombe State University, Gombe, explained that the major area that required an urgent change is the region’s poor perception of education.
According to him, this was responsible for the North West and North East regions, despite having the country’s largest population and largest concentration of Muslims are Kano backward in all aspects of human behaviour.
The two regions, according to the Emir, have the country’s highest maternal and infant deaths, under five deaths and 70% of out-of-school children. Please subscribe to our newsletter
