ELECTRICITY GENERATION PLUNGES

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says electricity supply through the national grid which peaked to 5,000 megawatts in past two weeks, had dropped below 2,800 megawatts.

The commission’s acting chief executive officer, Dr Anthony Akah, made this known in Abuja, while signing a memorandum of understanding with the consumer protection council (CPC).

Akah said increasing vandalism in the power sector is becoming worrisome and pleaded with stakeholders to collaborate with distribution companies (discos) and security agencies to safeguard electrical installations
