Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has stated that the dispersal of fighters of the Boko Haram sect in the North East region, is creating a new security threat nationwide.
El-Rufai who raised the issue at the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Kaduna, said the decimation of the sect has coincided with the emergence of new threat of banditry, particularly in the North West and North East regions.
The governor asserted that fleeing Boko Haram fighters could join communities to continue terror attacks.
Since the fall of the stronghold of the sect in the Sambisa forest to security forces, both Department of Security Service (DSS) and Police had been arresting several fleeing Boko Haram fighters and commanders in several parts of the country.
