Ekiti Workers Give Strike Notice Over Unpaid Salaries

Civil servants in Ekiti State have given the state government up till today to clear the outstanding December 2015 salary or they will stay away from their duty posts.

Chairmen of the state councils of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the joint public service negotiating council in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti said the decision was taken at an emergency meeting held last Monday in the city.

They accised Governor Ayodele Fayose of reneging on the terms of the agreements signed at a stakeholders meeting held on Monday last week in Ado Ekiti.

The labour leaders said they were disturbed over the delay in paying the salary arrears,  since the state government had  collected statutory allocations for the month of December 2015, as well as January, February and march this year, as well as internally generated revenue for the period
