Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 29 suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as ‘yahoo boys’ in Ogun State
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday during a raid on some hotels in the university town of Ago Iwoye in Ogun East
The EFCC operatives were drafted from the Ibadan office of the anti-graft agency
The suspects arrested at Ago-Iwoye include Emmanuel Lawal, Kareem Olamide, Adekunle Kehinde Salawu, Bella Tijesu, Aderibigbe Adedoyin, Anifowose Hammed and Lateef Adetayo
Also arrested during the raid were Busari Oluwatobi, Tobi Adeyemi, Gabriel Obisesan, Oluwole Olasunkanmi, Odetola Samson, Farouq Dosu, Ayilara Akindeji, Ademola Adedare, Ishola Adeleke, Alex Olasunmade and Idowu Abolaji
Others are Oshoboke Shasha-Eniyan, Adeyemi Opeyemi, Oluwatoyin Olutekunbi, Albert Charles, Olawuyi Olanrewaju, Tunde Adekoya, Gbolahan Olalekan, Alade Oluwasegun, Okegbenro Idris, Akinlolu Akintunde and Ajanaku Qudus.
Spokesman of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, says the operatives had placed the suspects under surveillance before the raid
Items recovered from the suspects, during the raid, were cars, laptop computers, mobile phones and several documents containing false presences. Uwujaren says they will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
