The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to accept responsibility for the economic recession, fix it, and stop blaming the immediate past Jonathan administration.
Kukah who made the call while speaking to newsmen at dinner organized by the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria in Akure, said the Jonathan administration despite its shortcoming achieved a lot for the country.
The Bishop said Nigerians in voting for Buhari in the 2015 Presidential Poll, decided to forget about the past, and move Nigeria forward, and do not expect him to keep complaining that Jonathan administration was responsible for today’s economic woes.
Asking Buhari to device a methodology to tackle the inherited economic problems, the catholic bishop said Buhari is now the president of Nigeria, no matter the criticism of Jonathan.
Buhari in his recent comment on the economic recession, blamed it largely on the PDP administration since 1999, which he accused of not investing in infrastructure or saving for the rainy day.
