Earning Allowance: Ngige Urges, SSANU, ASUU To Leave Him Out Of Fresh Crisis

Labour minister, Senator Chris Ngige, has asked both the academic staff union of universities (ASUU) and Universities’ Non Academic Unions to leave him out of their fresh conflict.

Both unions are at a fresh loggerhead on how to share the N22.12 billion earned allowance allocated to federal universities.

Ngige said that the joint action congress of Non Academic Staff Unions had requested him to intervene in the dispute over how to share the money.

But the minister said he had asked non academic staff to channel their grievances over the sharing formula to federal ministry of education and the national universities commission.

According to Ngige his involvement ended in ensuring that the disputed earned allowance was included in the 2021 supplementary budget.
