Department of Security Service (DSS) said it has disrupted a plot by Boko Haram and the Islamic State (ISIS) to bomb embassies of the UK and US in Abuja, as well other western interests in the city.
The agency in a statement by its spokesman, Tony Opuiyo, said five members of the terrorist groups based in Benue state and Abuja have been arrested.
The suspects are named as Isa Jibril, Jibril Jibril, Omale Jibril, Halidu Sule, and Amodu Salifu.
Earlier, DSS said it arrested another suspected terrorist, Adamu Datti at Fika in Yobe state, who allegedly confirmed his involvement in the plot.
In another operation, DSS said it arrested two suspected Ansaru leaders, Ahmed Momoh and Al-Amin Jamiu, last April 4 at Igarra in the Akoko Edo local government area of Edo state for terror attacks. The duo were confirmed associates of Abu Uwais, a main Ansaru kingpin terrorising residents in Kogi and Edo states
The Service revealed that it equally recovered high calibre arms and ammunition including a General Purpose Machine gun, three AK-47 rifles and one SMG rifle, with large quantities of ammunition from a kidnap syndicate in Benue State.
