Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has accused some of the major oil depots of sourcing products from illegal refineries, located in the creeks in the Niger Delta region.
Warri Zonal Director of the agency, Antai Asuquo, raised the issue in Warri at the 2019 Annual General Meeting between the DPR and Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association.
Describing the development as worrisome, Asuquo explains that sourcing products from illegal sources will introduce adulterated petroleum products into the system.
He says that some of the depot owners are being investigated and that any of them found culpable will have his operating licence revoked.
