Doctors demand 15% of Ogun 2018 budget allocation to health sector

Resident doctors allege being short-changed

Medical doctors in Ogun State have asked the state government to allocate 15 per cent of its proposed 2018 budget to the health sector, to address the challenges facing the sector.

Also, the doctors want the state government to release in full all 2018 budgetary allocation to the health sector, to enable the state attains the global standard.

The state chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Doctor Abayomi Olajide, who made the call at a news conference, in Abeokuta, said that inadequate budgetary allocation has affected the health sector, especially the immunization coverage of the state.

 

The NMA chairman while commending Governor Ibikunle Amosun for intervening in the challenges facing the health sector, urged him to ensure the full implementation of agreements reached with stakeholders in the sector.
