The Zonal PRO of NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye has reiterated the critical roles Nigerians must play in preventing loss of lives and properties due to flooding.
Farinloye urged Nigerians to desist from dumping refuse and wastes indiscriminately, especially in drainages. He claims that men are the most recalcitrant, as women and children easily desist from the act when warned or accosted by NEMA officials.
Farinloye however, agreed that we have experienced more rainfall and flooding this year than last year but he could not provide the cost of damages incurred so far this year.
The NEMA Zonal PRO claims that children and women adhere to instruction more than men. When the agency tell people what to do and what not to do to prevent flood in their homes and streets, the women and the children keep to it than the men, Farinloye said.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
We have discovered that children and women adhere to instruction more than men, when we tell people about what to do and what not to do to prevent flood in their homes and street, the women and the children keep to it than the men….. (Ibrahim Farinloye – Spokesperson for NEMA)
@RockcityFM People should be totally abstained from indiscriminate dumping of refuse and always clear the drainage to avoid flooding.

@RockcityFM I think is high time people must be responsible to always clear the drainage in front of their house, and not govt to clean it.
