The Zone ‘A’ federal operating unit of the Nigeria Customs Service said its operatives have seized 2,671 bags of suspected smuggled 50 kilogramme of parboiled rice, during its raid in Abeokuta.
The Customs operatives carried out the raid last Saturday on shops and warehouses of rice dealers at Ilogbo, near Ijaye in the city.
Area Comptroller of Zone ‘A’ of the unit, Mohammed Garba, addressing a news conference in Ikeja, Lagos, explained that the suspected smuggled rice was seized from nine storage houses in the area.
He said the operatives were mobbed during the operation.
Also, the Customs Comptroller also said the command’s operatives intercepted 570 parcels and 98 sacks of Indian hemp, at Olorunda axis of Ogun State.
The seized drug, according to him, which weighed 1,550 kilogrammes, has been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.Please subscribe to our newsletter
