Ogun APC Factions Renew Battle For Control Of Party’s Structure

Fresh crisis is looming in the Ogun state APC, despite the renewal of tenure of the state caretaker committee for six months by the party’s national caretaker committee

The crisis, follows the failure of the party’s national caretaker committee to reconcile the state caretaker committee, with a faction led by former governor Ibikunle Amosun, now a senator

The Amosun faction is renewing its battle with the state caretaker committee which was inaugurated by the national caretaker committee last week by the National Caretaker Committee at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja

Chairman of the caretaker committee, Chief Yemi Sanusi, shortly after his inauguration, in a statement by the committee’s publicity secretary, Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye, says the door of his committee is open to new, old and intending members of APC

Kick-starting the fresh crisis is the former governorship candidate of the allied people’s movement, Prince Isiaka Akinlade, who dismisses the extension of the tenure of the caretaker committee

Akinlade who lost out in the battle for the APC ticket for the 2019 governorship poll to governor Dapo Abiodun, in a statement by his media aide, Azeez Adelani, on Saturday, says that former governor Amosun, is the Ogun state APC leader

He directs all members of Amosun faction led by Chief Derin Adebiyi led state executive council, which had been dissolved by the APC national executive council, to ignore the extension of the caretaker committee’s tenure, and awaits further directive from Amosun

The dissolution of the Adebiyi led state executive council by APC national executive council, first sacked by the APC national working committee in December 2018, had left the caretaker committee led by chief Sanusi as the party’s only state executive committee in Ogun State
