Covid-19 is spreading in Ogun state, as its confirmed cases hit 50 on Tuesday, this follows the 15 new cases recorded in the state on Tuesday, days to easing the close to four-week old Covid-19 lockdown of the state.
Until Tuesday, the state has not recorded any case in the past three days, putting its confirmed cases at 35. The rise in Covid-19 cases is coming as the state embarked on community testing of people to detect suspected and confirmed cases in the state.
The mobile testing kits had been deployed to all the state’s 20 local government areas to increase the level of testing in a fresh move to stop the spread of the virus among various communities in the state.

Meanwhile, a mobile molecular laboratory has opened in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, to fast-track the testing of samples taken from Covid-19 suspects.
The facility is housed in a forty feet container placed in the premises of the 250-bed hospital under construction at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta. The laboratory is a joint venture between the state government and private sector partners, including 54gene, FCMB, as well as Argentil capital partners, Arnergy Solar Ltd, Tempo Housing Nigeria and Wild Fusion.
Governor Dapo Abiodun who was represented at the launch of the laboratory says it has the capacity to run 400 tests per day.
the governor represented by deputy governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele says the laboratory has been equipped with all necessary bio-safety materials, test kits and personal protective equipment to prevent health workers from infection by the virus.
Another molecular laboratory has been installed at the Olabisi Onabanjo university teaching hospital, Sagamu.
